Ospreys App Shortlisted for Design Award
Other Media and Ospreys Rugby are proud to announce that the Ospreys Official Mobile App has been Shortlisted for BEST VISUAL DESIGN in APPS, MOBILE & VOICE for the 10th Annual Lovie Awards.
The Lovie Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the most prestigious honour in Europe for excellence across websites, online advertising, internet video, mobile & apps and social.
Being recognised in the Visual Design category for Apps, Mobile, and Voice is testament to the work put into the app by the teams at both Other Media and Ospreys and highlights how important the design of an app is in engaging users.
About The Ospreys App
Ospreys are a forward-thinking rugby club; a globally recognisable brand with their distinctive mask logo, and they are harnessing the power of digital to connect with their fans. Recognising the importance of connecting with fans to engage them and provide a superior experience, the club worked with Other Media to launch their first mobile app.
The Ospreys app has been designed to reflect the rugged nature of the game on the pitch with an expressive use of texture throughout. The app’s design had to stand up on its own yet reflect the club’s marketing push at launch. This was achieved through subtle cues of a DNA graphic to reflect their kit theming and marketing line “it’s in our DNA” that built upon their existing “Our Blood is Black” creative.
The match day experience hosts a wealth of informative and stats driven content which is presented in a dynamic way, utilising ambient kinetic typography, a wide set of custom match event iconography, and a bespoke line up component to show which team player is facing off against the opposition.
Fans can rely on the app to be their personal, in-game analysis and statistics assistant, with blow-by-blow commentary on the game as well accurate, up-to-date player stats live in-game.
The Clubcast Solution
Our Clubcast framework is helping a variety of sports organisations to provide a complete digital fan experience. As well as other clubs and organisations, Ospreys power their mobile-optimised website and iOS and Android apps through Clubcast’s Drupal 8 CMS to efficiently maximise their fan engagement efforts.
Both website and app are managed through one CMS and the data and insights they receive is helping them to personalise the content fans see which is hugely improving engagement and commercial returns.
With a rich suite of features, such as voice and smartwatch functionality, Clubcast is pushing boundaries and progressing sports organisations’ fan engagement and commercial prosperity.
“Ospreys Rugby has excelled in its category, showing fantastic prowess in digital innovation and creativity. This award is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators.”
