"Alexa, ask Swans Official the score"

Swansea City are raising the bar in accessibility and convenience for fans with a new Alexa Skill and News Briefing.

Hands-free efficiency

Alexa, Amazon’s voice-controlled smart assistant, is making a whole host of everyday tasks even simpler, in a variety of devices from smart speakers, to phones, to cars.

Out of the box, Alexa can be a very handy tool, helping you to find out the weather forecast or set a timer. What takes its effectiveness to the next level is the vast array of skills that are available – a bit like the apps that get the most out of your phone.

These skills, available in the Skills Store, help you do everything from order food, to listen to podcasts, to find out the latest score in the football…

Or at least they do if your club has developed an Alexa skill like Swansea City have.

Quick to set up, simple to use

Now the Jack Army can find out the latest Swans score, get the upcoming line-up and their daily dose of Swans news, all without lifting a finger. We have developed a flash briefing and a Swans Alexa skill for fans to get updates through their smart devices.

The service is also designed to help break down potential barriers for people with visual impairments and blind supporters who may find news delivered aurally to be more convenient and accessible.

To use these new features with a smart speaker fans can activate them now or, if they haven’t yet enabled Alexa, can simply download the Alexa app to computer, tablet or smartphone, and then enable the news briefing and the skill.

Once enabled fans can ask Alexa the score or the line-up by saying “Alexa, ask Swans Official the score”. Alexa will then also include all the latest from Swansea City next time you ask for the news.

More details on how to set up these exciting new features can be found on Swansea City’s website.
