Swansea City become the first UK football club to offer In-App ticketing

Since launching earlier in the year, we have been working hard behind the scenes with the team at Sports Alliance and Ticketmaster to integrate mobile ticketing into iOS and Android versions of the Swansea City app. Launching today, this is the first time that a football team in the UK has been able to offer In-App ticketing to fans and not only saves on printing but also reduces booking fees and is a more convenient solution for fans as tickets, fixtures, match reports and team news are now all accessed from one official app.

The project was made possible by integrating Single Sign On ‘Club Accounts’ into the App meaning that once signed in, the app recognises if the user is a Season Ticket Holder or Jack Army Member, and can deliver tickets and barcodes for entry into The Liberty Stadium, all in real time.

Building effective digital relationships is at the heart of Swansea’s strategy and this is just our latest development for Swansea City which also includes a dedicated player welfare app and interactive in-store kiosks. Other Media’s Managing Director, George Crabb said “We love working with ambitious clients like Swansea City who want to push the boundaries of what digital can deliver and look forward to launching more initiatives with this amazing team”.

“In-App ticketing is a project we’ve been working hard towards since the successful launch of our new Official Swans App,” explained Swansea City’s Digital Media Manager Rebecca Symmons. “We’ve been informed that we are the first football club in the UK to introduce In-App ticketing which, if true, is an added bonus for the club and our fans.”
