Connacht Rugby launches new mobile app with Other Media
Connacht Rugby has launched a new mobile app in partnership with Other Media, the latest step in a wider programme to create a more connected and personalised digital experience for supporters.
Available now on iOS and Android, the new app brings together news, match information, video, live updates and ticketing in one place, giving Connacht supporters a digital experience built around the way they follow and engage with the Club.
The launch forms part of an ongoing partnership between Connacht Rugby and Other Media, focused not simply on delivering new digital products, but on creating a joined-up fan engagement platform that can evolve with the Club and its supporters.
Built around the Connacht supporter
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, the app has been shaped around Connacht Rugby’s own requirements and supporter journey.
Users can personalise the notifications and content they receive, follow the latest Club news and video, receive real-time score and match updates and access live and on-demand Connacht Rugby video content.
On matchday, the Match Centre brings together live scores, updates and detailed statistics, alongside results and league tables from the BKT United Rugby Championship and Investec Champions Cup.
Ticketing has also been integrated directly into the experience, allowing supporters to access and manage their Connacht Rugby tickets through the app’s Ticketing Wallet.
The app also includes live audio commentary from Galway Bay FM and the ability to customise its appearance, including light and dark modes.
Player profiles and statistics, together with further interactive features including polls and matchday predictors, will be introduced as the platform continues to develop throughout the season.
A platform designed to evolve
For Other Media, the Connacht project is about more than delivering an app.
The partnership is focused on bringing together the different parts of the supporter’s digital relationship with the Club and creating an experience that can become more personalised, useful and engaging over time.
That means combining content, matchday information, video, ticketing and interactive functionality within an experience tailored to Connacht’s needs, while providing the flexibility to introduce new functionality as the Club’s digital strategy develops.
The app is one part of that wider programme, with Other Media also working alongside Connacht Rugby on a new website due to launch later this year.
Owain Jenkins, Digital Transformation Manager at Connacht Rugby, said:
“The launch of the new Connacht Rugby app is an exciting step for the Club and, most importantly, for our fans.
“We wanted the app to bring as much of the fan experience together in one place as possible. The integration of our ticketing platform and Ticketing Wallet was a really important part of that, making it easy for supporters to access their tickets alongside everything else they use the app for – from following the team on matchday to keeping up with the latest news, video and interactive content.
“We’d like to thank the team at Other Media for their expertise and support throughout the development of the app. We’re looking forward to continuing that partnership as we work towards the launch of the new Connacht Rugby website later this year.”
George Crabb, Managing Director at Other Media, added:
“Connacht Rugby is an ambitious club with a clear vision for how it wants to engage with its supporters, and it’s exciting to see the Club putting digital at the heart of that ambition.
“This app is an important step in creating a more connected, personalised and engaging fan experience, bringing together all of the content and functionality that supporters need in one place. But this is only the beginning as the platform gives Connacht the foundations to continually evolve its digital offering and find new ways to improve the supporter experience throughout the season and beyond.
“We’re delighted to be working with Connacht Rugby on this wider digital transformation, and we’re looking forward to continuing that journey with the Club as we move towards the launch of the new website later this year.”
The Official Connacht Rugby App is available to download now from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
