Other Media are thrilled to be shortlisted for the Sports Tech of the Year – For Sport and In Sport Award at the 2018 Sports Business Awards for the development of Swansea City Football Club’s Official Swans app, the app that made it possible for the first football fans in the UK to hold match day tickets on their phones earlier this year.
The Sports Business Awards were conceived to celebrate the hard work and achievements of individuals and teams who make sporting success possible; the organisers, the suppliers, the designers, the administrators, the advisors, the technologists, the marketers and the companies who ensure that the business of sport, in all its various and myriad forms, happens successfully.
The judging panel is made up of CEOs across all sports alongside individuals whose knowledge, expertise and experience gives them special insight into the challenges and demands of sports business success. One of the judges Colin Jackson said “It’s so important that businesses get recognition for the time, effort and money they invest into sport. Many of our great champions would not have made it to the top without this commitment.”
The nomination follows hot on the heels of two nominations for our work with this progressive club at the Sports Technology Awards, with nominations in the Best Tech for Athlete Welfare category for the app developed to support the wellbeing of players and for Best Tech for Fan Engagement for the Official Swans app.
